Hi guys,

Got a cut of a video I've been doing, but it's 1 3/4 hrs long - oops. But that is as much as I can trim off.

I have a PC with CD-R, and Mac with Superdrive. I want to distribute the video amongst friends and family. It's too big for a VCD, too long for iDVD to encode to DVD. So what other options do I have?

I know I could put it on a VHS, but yuck, linear media .....(shudder).

I've got a feeling that someone may suggest DVD Studio Pro, and it is in the pipeline, but not for the next 3-6 months.

Cheers for any advice

Tim

"But that is as much as I can trim off".

How about S-VHS or give it to someone else to edit, they will be more ruthless and less sentimental (if it is that type of video).

If you encode using windows media encoder/ Movie Maker2 both downloadable from Microsoft they say you can easily get 1 3/4 hours video on a DVD (acting as an external drive). Thats what they say- I must admit the quality of Windows Media Files (WMF) leaves something to be desired viewed at Full Screen. May be interesting to see if it is better than VCR??

Apple's own MPEG2 Quicktime encoder (like others) will easily give you 2 hours on a DVD. The problem is that you can only legitimately get it bundled with DVD Studio Pro (Doh!.... I've said "D-- S----- P--" now..!)
