I’m considering getting one of these I’ve herd lots of good things about the red rock m2 and the letus 35 has any one used one? If so how did you get on with it?

I attended a Sony Roadshow last year and Philip Bloom demo'ed the Letus with the Ex1 - mighty impressive, IMHO.

I own a Letus Extreme and use a load of relatively cheap but fast Canon FD primes.
The biggest transitions for me are weight and framing. The whole setup with rails, adapter, fx1 and follow focus is pretty heavy, and you'll always have extra boxes and kit to carry for extra lenses etc. Unless you have a decent shoulder mount system a tripod is a must really....
Framing wise it takes some time to get around the fact that you have no zoom to play around with. I never really got round to still photography with primes so it has been someting of a learning curve for me, BUT a curve I have actually really enjoyed. Exploring the DOF available is a whole new game, and starts opening up a load of options as a creative filmmaker (which i hope I have moments of!!!)
Here's a couple of films I have filmed with the letus - mainly just playing around...

There is however a new element to explore - once you have got a letus, shipped it, bought rails, a prime set, follow focus you can easily run over £1200, and for that price you can start looking at new model SLR's with HD capability in one little box. OK, there are drawbacks, but it is certainly getting to the point where the technology is worth evaulting alongside the "traditional" setup...
Cheers!

Thanks both for the info.
I had come across Philip bloom whilst looking at the different types of adapter.

I like the video clips you posted as well. Apart form working in video I also work as a photographer so I’ve got 1dsmk2 5dmk2 15mm fish eye 16-35 24-70 70-200 lenses but there all eos. I started looking at the adapters last year but decided not to buy. Recently I came across Philip bloom and I got interested again. I’m impressed with the letus and the read rock adapter. Read rock will be bringing out an adapter that allows control of the eos lenses so due to the lenses I have I’m most interested in this however having seen a letus and the results I’m very impressed.
Currently I have a sony z1e but I’m hoping to get an ex3 next year or something similar.

The 5dmk2 is very good the video is impressive but I’ve found it limiting. Most people are using it with Nikon lenses, I don’t really want to do that seeing as I have all the canon stuff already!.

Thanks again for the info and sharing the video clips.

I feel that the 5D MkII and the new Panasonic four-thirds shows the way ahead, and feel that we won't be fiddlinng about with tiny ½" and smaller chips for much longer. As such the 35 mm adapters (with all the massive constraints they bring) will be seen as a small stepping stone to what we all really need - bigger chips.

I don't know if these have been referred to anywhere else on this hallowed portal but it's hard to be unimpressed by these offerings:
