Accidental camcorder file deletion! Help!!

A friend has just accidentally deleted files on her camcorder.

It's a Canon Legria HFR 37, which records to internal memory and a memory stick.

Jen says she was reviewing footage, chose a date, and accidentally deleted all the footage from that date. She didn't know if the footage was on the internal memory or on the removable card.

Anyone got any clues / hints / shared experience from similar situations?

She's a Mac user. I've asked her to try Rescue Pro (which has worked for me on Windows), and to attach the Camcorder to the Computer and see if the internal memory and the memory stick show up on the Mac as drives.... I was thinking that maybe there's some kind of undelete program she could run if they did.

I'm a Windows person myself, and not au fait with Macs.

Anyhow, as ever, all help very gratefully received, and if there's anyone in Aberdeen who'd like to help her personally, she says she's got a nice bottle to hand which she was about to drown her sorrows in....

Surely the camera isn't tied to a Mac PC and would link up to a Windows PC so why don't you hook it up to your PC and if recognised try Recue Pro?  That is if she is within communicating distance.  (whoops just checked your details and she couldn't be further away)

Now with a PC Specialist Quad Core i7-3770, 16GB RAM, 180GB SSD, GeForce GTX560 Ti Graphics Card, Blu-Ray & DVD R/W Burners and can't wait to set it up. Now up and running.  What a difference in Blu-Ray footage.

There's several free options for Mac users, http://www.macdatarecoveryfreeware.com  (new, a little glitchy but works) and http://www.easeus.com/mac/ (well known name and works OK) , I've used both and recovered both stills and video stuff. Rescue Pro is not free unless you've bought a SanDisk card and navigated the complicated register procedure!
