i have just installed an IBM Deskstar 34GXP. The problem arises when I try to install the second drive (my original Drive) a fujitsu 10.2 (5400rpm) and the fault is that when windows 98 is loaded the driver is disabled or not working properly (Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)) and when checking resources both drives are working in MS-DOS mode. Both drives are connected to the mother board at IDE 1 the primary port. And on the other is a DVD drive and a standard DVD Drive, Please can you help me?

Have you set your first drive to be a slave?.

There should be a jumper to move from master to slave.

Yes Jumper settings are all set correctly this is all I though was necessary to activate the second harddisk and to setup the partitions.

What motherboard?

Does it support ATA66 (if not, have you run IBM's utility to get the drive to report itself as an ATA33)?

Are you using an 80 wire cable for the HDDs?

What operating system?

One more thing to check in the BIOS is the slave on the primary IDE channel set to auto detect or is it disabled?.
