I am brand new to video editing. I have 2 problems. I cannot get 'best' output to analoge and Pinnacle DV+ says it cannot initialise my Panasonic NV-DX100 camcorder so I can output DX. The camcorder was enabled by a widget.

Basic system is Jetway 867As motherboard with 512MB of DDR ram with Athlon 2000+ processor. Video card is GeForce 4 MX440

Analogue output is selected by a right click on the small Pinnacle panel, or accessed from Prem. record window.
DV output selected here also. Settings are also accessed from Prem-edit prefs menu.
Are you recording to Vhs or S-Vhs. Avoid scart sockets and record direct to the vcr input.
Your output quality will depend on your input quality. Are you viewing on a TV or monitor / via the RF vcr out or composite out. If RF, try making a new 75 ohm output lead. The one supplied may not be up to it - thin or old. Same goes for the composite.

Recording from DV, S or comp on the cam should give better pics than from Vhs or S -vhs cams.
You should switch the DV cam on before the PC. The DV500 should the find the cam. Device manager should have a 1394 device, DV500 E4 and DV500 overlay listed.
I have had my DV500 for eight months, and it really is good.

Thanks for the reply John.
Ithink Studio DV + must be a different set-up to DV500. There when you 'make movie@ pressing Settings allows a choice of good, better and best analogue outputs. I can pick any but using best cause problems.
I got a line about 25% of the way down the screen and audio was out of sync with the video.
I upgated to 7.13.6 from the 7.9 I had just been provided with when I bought the DV+. Using that got rid of the line but sync was still out. Using better instead of best got rid of that too. But I still could not use best.
The people who supplied my PC then sugeested using a motherboard which Pinnacle show as OK. So I am now on an ASUSA7V 266 E with 512 MB DDR and an Athlon 200+ processor. The problem is still there. I stiil get audio out of sync with vide. It gets slightly in front if I have a long clip.

Sorry. I thought you were using the DV500+.
Is your cam detected with the new board, and are you recording from it.
There may be a Pci enhancer prog on the install CD. See if this is needed for your m/board.
Have you checked the DMA box in Device Manager/disk drives/settings. They should both be on. Has the board it`s own IRQ. If not, try setting it in the BIOS. IRQ 10 for instance.
Make sure the record and playback settings are both the same. 720x576 @ 25fps. Pal.
I expect you have gone through any obvious settings, did you do a fresh install of windows.
Hopefully some one with a Studio DV + will have some suggestions!

Regards
John.

Suggest you check the pinnacle site. under the DV+. Compatible motherboards, and DV devices.
The A7V266 requires the PPE on your install CD, And there are some instuctions there with ref to driver install and ver.numbers.
