Hi,

I'm having trouble with capture from the onboard firewire - stuttering video.

Config - Mobo as mentioned, Athlon64 3200+, 2GB RAM, lots of HD space, Geforce 256MB PCI-x video card.

Secondly, can I still use my old RT2500 on this mobo, since it has standard (old) PCI slots?

Any light on this matter will be really appreciated.

1. are you using the onboard audio? If so this can bog down the CPU and cause problems. A nice, low bandwidth PCI audio card works better in most cases. The M-audio cards (owned by AVID) are good examples.

2. there are no Nforce boards listed as compatible with the Matrox RT cards. My experience is that the Matrox RT boards work best with either Intel or SiS chipped mainboards.

Hi Terry,
Firstly many thanks for your reply.

could be the case, since this is a machine i have still not seen - a friend has taken my advice and got it built.

this may be serious. but nevertheless, if the on-board firewire works ok, there is no reason to use the RT2500 - a point i had already discussed with my friend in advance.

once again, many thanks for your time and effort,

best regards
