My apologies for what I am sure is a very basic question, but I am new to video editing and at the moment "cannot see the wood for the trees". So, here goes. I want to make some audio files so that I can have some background music with my edited footage. What is the best way to do this? I would like to record CDs using my computers own player. When I select 'capture audio' in Premiere 5 it asks me what device I want to use. The only one I have available is as supplied on Win98, and I cannot get that to record! Any tips greatly appreciated.

You probably need to capture audio as a .wav file possibly using the s/ware supplied with your sound card. Premier is not the tool for this, then import file (s) into premier.

HTH - let us know how you get on.

Hi,

I use Audiograbber, it's available as a download from the web and works really well. the only problem is if you use the free version you might have to launch the package several times to get the track you require.

windac(windac.de)is a cracking little tool that will copy c.d's onto your hard drive(wav)in no time at all.
Another way to do it is connect a c.d walkman to your capture cards audio inputs. Then in Premiere go to File/Capture/Movie Capture.Right click on the capture box header bar and there amongst several options is audio capture. That's what I used to do before I found windac.

There was a .dll file you could download that would change and allow explorer to identify audio cd tracks as .wav as well as audio cd. There was also aproblem over the distribution of this. If anyone is interested in details please contact me.
