Hi there,
My Dad is just getting into the DV lark. He's got a snazio (yes snazio) firewire card. After reading here I'm going to suggest he goes for the 60 or 80 GB maxtor drive. But he's only got a PII 450 with the original graphics card that came with it. (Not sure what it is - but its a least 2.5 years old).
Also only ata33 interface.
4 questions: will it deal with basic editing OK and what can he upgrade to improve things
He's got 4 ide devices already - would an external firewire drive be an option?
Or is it worth thinking about a promise or similar ata100/133 card or raid card?
Can anyone reccommend a REALLY simple editing program (we're talking super basic "assemble" editing)
Thanks in advance
Geth

my solution would be as follows.
buy a large ide drive and ata 100 controller.
use that purely for the video capture drive.
a really simple editing program : pinnacle studio 7 .... works will any ohci dv/firewire card ( well pinnacle says it does ). approx 64.99 from http://www.jungle.com Stock Code: 11183850 (300mhz PII req)
have a look at http://www.adamation.com/products/personalStudio/ as another simple editing program.( it does say it needs a 350mhz processor)
THanks for that
had a look at http://www.adamation.com/products/personalStudio/
Far to many buttons for my old man!
Might have a look at it myself though

Pinnacle Studio 7 is by far the easiest Windows editing program to use and is surprising powerful - more so than its rivals.
