Can anyone confirm this absolutely?

I am experimenting with this as we speak. Intel board with 2.8 gig P4.

So far, I have gotten the card installed and have separate IRQ's for everything (Yeah!). Media Studio Pro 6 is installed with patch and Fast 2.5 build 0024.

I have not had an opportunity to capture anything yet, but MSP seems to work fine and rendering works. I am currently having some challenges with very jittery playback both in audio and video and am working to figure this out.

Will let you know when I have a complete solution.

After some more tweeking, here is the Pentium 4 system that does work with AV Master. I cannot vouch for every motherboard, but I don't know why they wouldn't work if you can get all components on separate IRQ's.

Here are specs for computer:

Motherboard - Intel D845EBG2
Processor - Intel P4 - 2.8 gig
Harddrive - Maxtor 7200 rpm 80 gig drive
Sound Card - Sound Blaster Live!
Graphics Card - Geoforce 2 64 mb
SCSI Card - Adaptec 2940
OS - Windows 98SE
ULead Multimedia Studio Pro (MSP) Version - 6.0

Sound is automatically built into this motherboard, but I opted to use a Sound Blaster Live card because of the multiple audio out ports.

Install went like this:

First, disable all on-board peripherals in BIOS. This includes Network card, sound, COM1 & COM2. USB ports do not appear to be able to be turned off here, but need to be disabled in Device Manager (see below).

Next, set up graphics card. Install drivers and make sure card is running. On my setup AGP port automatically grabbed IRQ 11. One note about the graphics card that may or may not be important. I am using an older Geoforce 2 (about three years old) and there may be a conflict with newer cards. I did originally have a newer card and there seemed to be some problems, but it was also very late and I kept falling asleep at the computer. It may have been the card, and it may have been periods of consciousness that were just too short. If you have problems, you try an older video card.

Next, disable USB ports in Device Manager. Even though these were disabled in BIOS, they still seem to appear and grab IRQ settings. I went ahead and disabled them to make everything easier. I have not attempted to turn them back on, so do not know if the system will work with USB enabled or not.

Next, install MSP 6.0. Reboot. Install MSP 6.0.0.2. Reboot.

Next, install AV Master into system IN PCI SLOT 5 (counting down from AGP port). I have tried just about every other PCI slot, and even though the bios supposedly allows pci assignment, I have not found it to be reliable. When windows prompts for drivers, use the drivers that were downloaded with the AV Master 2.5 drivers (build 0024). Reboot. Now install the actual AV Master 2.5 build 0024 software. Reboot. On my system, this put AV Master on IRQ 4.

Next, go into bios and turn on the Network card if you need it. Install drivers. Reboot. On my system, network card went into IRQ 3.

Next, install Sound Blaster Live! card in PCI SLOT 6. Install drivers. Sound card should be on IRQ 10. Reboot.

I happened to have several IBM SCSI drives which contained quite a few video files that I had used in a previous AV Master system. While the 80 gig Maxtor is plenty big enough (and with the updated IDE controllers, throughput is incredible), I went ahead and put the SCSI drives and an Adaptec 2940 card into the system. This is by no means necessary, but I thought I would give it try. Install Adaptec card into PCI SLOT 4. Adaptec card goes into IRQ 10 with the sound card, but so far I have had no problems with these two sharing an IRQ.

With this system, you want to make sure you have hardware rendering turned off. The speed will blow you away!

So far I have rendered video, played video, output to tape and everything has been perfect. I have not used FASTCAP to capture any additional video yet, but so far everything has worked beautifully.

If I can be of any further help to anyone, please let me know.

After further experimentation, FASTCAP does work and capture has been perfect. I have experimented with compressions rates of 1:12 and 1:8 and both have worked fine.
