Converting XDCAM MXF (On disc) to DNxHD or other codecs

Hey all,

So I have a XDCAM disc and have copied the entire contents to my HDD.

I've tried to import the folder using Premiere CC and it only manages to import the audio and low resolution proxy file, and not the full quality .MXF file.

I've tried to import and AMA link using AVID to the same video file and that doesn't work either.

It's leading me to believe that I need additional software, which is a pain in the bum - but if anyone knows what my problem is I'd appreciate any support!

Thanks,

Tom

Try using Sony's XDCAM Transfer software.  That will probably work.

You can get version 1 and use it without needing a serial number now.  Version 2 costs around £15 for a serial number, and a whole lot more to make it fully functional.

Thanks y'all!

WIt is Content Browser that you need now - definitely available for windows.  I have just downloaded all this lot having replaced my aged V1E with an EX3.

There does not seem to be a lot of difference between the free v1 as and the £15 V2, but you may need the latter for W8 - V1 runs on W7.

I think you will need the £100 paid for "retail pack for V2 to handle xdcam mxf , though

I managed to borrow a mac at work, so used XDCAM utility to transfer the file across.

Once it was transferred I was then able to transcode to DNxHD .MXF

Thanks for your help!
