I suspect my Panasonic DVD recorder is on it's way out (like my previous Panasonic it just made it over the 12 month guarantee period and no more!).
Any way getting fed up of shelling out £120-150 for a recorder that only just lasts a year I've decided to ditch Panasonic (which is a shame because when it works it is a lovely machine) and look elsewhere.
Essentially what I'm looking for is a DVD recorder with inputs for firewire, S-video and regular composites.
Has anyone out there got experience with a machine that has the above attributes plus, equally importantly, gives good results and is likely to last at last at least two years. I'm not even that fussed about having freeview or indeed any tuner, but my budget is up to £150.
Any advice would be gratefully received,
John

Based on my experience on the last two decks, I'll try a different brand this time,

have a lg and a sony with firewire.
havd 3 x panasonics e30 ( with a friend now ) / e50 ( with parents ) / eh50 ( connected to sky satellite system ) all without firewire
all panasonics work fine , only the first one has had a drive replaced within 12 months , nothing else ( touch wood ) has gone wrong.
pop into comet and wsee what managers specials are on offer
the sony cost me 80.00 ( 80gb hard drive in it )
the LG cost 50.00 ( 160 GB harddrive in it )
and a samsung ( 160GB ) that i gave to a friend ( also cost 50.00 )
Hi Gary,
thanks for the advice, I pass a Comet on the way home (which can be quite painful), so I'll pop in and check the 'specials',
thanks
John
have you seen that EU directive which makes 1 year guarantees garbage? should be able to claim for many years beyond (up to 6 in some cases)
can dig it out if you want. changes our rights big time. :D
