Hope someone can help.
Just set up a new system, Abit BP-6, Celeron 500, 128 ram, 4Gb system disk to which I have attached a 22Gb IBM GXP drive 7200/66. All the relevant drivers are loaded, but when I run diskbench (from this site), the sustained write rate is 5Mb/s, compared to the read rate wich is nearly 17Mb/s.
I have found that the drive is running in MS-DOS compatability mode withini the system - is this the problem ?
If so how can I fix it ?
Any help gratfully received !
Bruno
Bruno, just browse the last 10/15 messages and I suspect you'll find the answer.
My guess is that you have the wrong data cable for the drive (40-wire, instead of 80-wire).
DO please make the effort to do as I suggest - you will most likely find the answer. If you can't be bothered, then use the search button up at the top right of your screen.

Thanks Bob !
You were right, there answer was there - it needed a complete extraction of the drivers, and re-install (not how it says in the manual) - data is now running at 15Mb/s both ways - plenty for me.
Thanks again for such a useful and informative service
