I currently have a 6 port SATA card with 6 x 250GB drives on it, i need to add another 4 x 250GB drives. So that i have 2 spare ports, could i use another one of these 6 port cards or would it be better to have a differant card in it (like a 4 port card off another make)?

One other question, a bit off topic. At what point would a computer be fast enough for Prem Pro 1.5 to be used in real time using an on board firewire (OHCI) port. The computer is Duel 3.2 Xeon with 2.5GB ram.

In answer to the question that i'm sure will be asked (why do you need 2.5TB of drive space)
Answer: HDTV (decklink Pro HD 4:4:4 card)

Each card should have it's own bios/firmware and a unique ID , and therefore should report itself properly to the motherboard and operating system.

What sata controller do you already have ?

A dual 3.2ghz should be fast enough already for premiere in realtime , BUT , i don't use premiere pro and therefore not sure of the cpu overheads required.

I brought it off ebay and it was sold as a Dell 6 port SATA card, however under the dell sticker is says Adaptec.

I think it's a Adaptec AAR-2610SA/64MB ??

Haveing a few PSU problems so have'nt fired it up yet

A phone call to DVC may find you a power supply , they do dual xeon boxes , and may know where to get correct power supplies from.

I know that you can usually put multiple adaptec scsi boards into pc's , so don't see why you can't add another sata one to the pc.
