When using this mic on a camera with phantom power, are there any benefits to using the internal AA cell?
Leaving the camera's phantom power switched on permanently (as opposed to having to switch the mic on every session) gives me one less thing to remember.
Are there any issues doing this I am not aware of?
with some other mics ( i don't have me66 , i use an akg shotgun mic with phantom power), if the aa/whatever cell dies , even still connected to phantom connection , you may not get the power thru to the mic.
must admit , if equipment supplies phantom power , i use that.
the power from the battery cannot power the camera for as long as it would not supplying phantom power , BUT , both units will stop at the same time.
the other way , if the camera is still capable of recording and the mic has died , the footage isn't much use without the sound.
If the phantom power is switched on, the K6 will use the phantom rather than the battery.
If the phantom dies it will use the battery - but the camera would have died anyway.
