Info for others who may need to do this.
We have a job coming up where we need to do a couple of 80m cables runs to the Sony Anycast from our cameras.
We already had a couple of 20m DV cables but we had never had to daisy chain them. We discovered that Sony have disabled the 2 power pins on their 6pin DV output sockets so the Datavideo DV inline repeaters wouldn't work so we bought two powered Datavideo 1in 5out DV repeaters.
They worked fine and we tested with a 160m cable run powered from the Anycast end, picture quality appears to be unchanged.
Thanks to Dale at ProAV and Holdan for their advice and fast service.
Hi Claire
What's the maximum length for a standard firewire lead - the most I can see is about 3m... do you have a source for longer cables (that don't need repeaters) - I'm after a 5m one...

Datavideo do 6pin, 10m and 20m long ones and we buy from proav.co.uk as they give a discount on the normal Datavideo RRPs.
Max length without repeaters appears to be 20m.
http://www.holdan.co.uk/datavideo/cables_rep.shtml are the distributors but you need to buy from retailers.
darn it.
I just bought 200m of datavideo cables and 8 repeaters to do exactly what you were doing with my anycast. I just got it on Tuesday and haven't had time to play yet but have two of the powered splitters but it's a shame you can't just plug them in directly.
