Trying to make a menu for a job, sorted the background. For the file selection i want to take a web page creen grab and use the page part to play a video clip through. This is how i've done it so far.

open web page

do a screen grab

paste into Photoshop as PSD file and the wipe out the centre bit so the video will play on the bottom layer when the whole thing is in the DVD production software

Problem is when i scale it down from 1366 x 768 down to about 340 x 192 it looks awful even looking at it at image size. I'm guessing i'm doing somthing wrong in the scale down??

Any advice

Hi Dominic.
I think I follow.
Font/text will always look less than ideal when converted in flat format (e.g. not text overlaid on b/g as is typical web usage).
I see you've used 1/4 for vertical resolution of size reduction, but not sure about horizontal resolution.

For the psd file, check you are using a start point of 720*576 with pixel aspect ratio set to format (which I assume is dv pal widescreen), than paste in your screen grab, then reduce as required, one step (important), no second step to fine tune sizing, as that would mean tweaking the small res variant not the high res source.

I've no idea if that will help - so fingers crossed.
