does anybody know if there are rewinders for mini DVCAM ? here in the netherlands I have been told that the mini dv rewinders ( maxell ) they sell here don't work for mini DVCAM . seems to be strange since they both have the same size . any recommendations ?
thank you !

there's no reason that they wouldn't work for mini DVCam but to be honest, I don't see the point of them.

got one of those maxwells. works fine.

dave m: you have you a DSR25, so I can see why they seem pointless ;)

thank you fuddam ! the stange thing is that the person representing and selling them , who is supposed to be a real video 'hotshot' says that (sony ) mini DVCAM tapes do NOT fit . I don't want to question your reply but before disregarding the 'hotshot's' statement and ordering the maxell rewinder I want to be sure . did you ever use this rewinder with sony mini DVCAM tapes ? thank you

well, I ONLY use it with sony minidv tapes. ;)

DV & DVCAM are just formats, not tape size. All miniDV tapes are the same size, and in some sony cameras, can be used to record in DVCAM format.

DVCAM tapes, however, are larger, for which you need a larger VTR.

Since you use the word 'mini', I assume you mean these things on which you can record DVCAM if you want

If a mini DV tape fits the rewinder and a camera, and a DVDCam tape fits the camera then ergo the tape must fit the rewinder!!

The Expert either doesn't know about Mini DVCam or is talking out of his backside.
