Do any of you make good use of monopods? Any recomendations suitable for a camera up to the Sony Z5 size. Pros & Cons etc. Pete.

Yep, we've been through this before. Mine's a Manfrotto 560B, lovely.

Get my test cards document, and cards for 625, 525, 720 and 1080. Thanks to Gavin Gration for hosting them.

Also EBU Tech.3335 tells how to test cameras, and R.118 tells how to use the results.

Oh Dear . . . . Why didn't I think of that in the first place. Thanks a lot.
Very interesting about the feet on the 561B.

I've been using a 561B for quite a while now, regular use, haven't managed to snap a foot off yet. There's always tomorrow, I suppose.

The really nice thing about the 560/561 is the fluid foot. The feet are there for ground stability, but the whole column is on a fluid head upside down (i.e. it's in the ankle) and the three 'feet' are actually toes. It makes pans very nice and smooth. Tilting is still a problem, but is usually less of a problem.

My 560B went round Jordan and Egypt with me and was invaluable. At shortest height, it stands as a tripod (unless in a high wind), and when not shooting it is devastatingly good as a walking stick (there's lots of walking/climbing at Petra).

Thanks again. I'm now looking into the 561. Cheers. Pete
