My camera, the Canon XL 1 is soon to arrive :D !!!
However, as much as I'm really keen to get straight into seeing what it can do... I don't really know where to start, which is why I've signed up to here.
I'm hoping to be shooting a bit of everything - martial artists, skateboarders, sowboarders, cars (fast ones!) - just generally everything that involves a bit of sport!
So I'm going to be looking out for any tips/advice from anyone! I'll be sure to think up a load of questions too so I'm bound to be on here a lot from now on :D

Oh and the first video I intend to make is of my own local tae kwon do (martial arts) club, has anyone seen/made any videos I can get inspiration from?
It will unfortunately be in bad lighting for any camera :( inside a big sports hall. Something I may struggle with is white balance, getting enough light in and also sound (with it echoeing around a bit)
SO........ I'd really appreciate any tips/advice for doing this :)
I won't have a separate mic or anything - just the standard XL1 camcorder and a tripod.
thanks!
Lozzy
Considering the fast pace of each movement in tae kwon do I would suggest lots of different shots of each movement to edit with. Also, how about getting someone to perform a sequence of movements which you film by moving around the subject.
Welcome to the forum and can't wait to see some of your videos!

First and for most. Learn how to use your camcorder and all the function.
Then go and shoot and see what you are capable of doing.
Then advance to your subjects and come back here and ask.
thanks for the replies - I like the odea of getting shots at very different angles of different moves :) should look really good after a play with the edit.
I think I've just about got to grips with most of the camera's functions now!
