Premier playback problem

I'm making a short video of 8.19 min which after much effort and constantly re-reading the manuals I've finally managed to get to render and play smoothly. My problem now is that when I try to play the movie to tape it gets about half to two thirds of the way through then just stops and will not continue. Does anyone have any ideas as to why? I'd appreciate any help as this video was on a deadline of today but I've managed to stall for a bit. By the way I'm running premier/DC30+ on a P200 with 64 M ram and 12 gig HD.

My only advice would be to defragment the drive (the theory being that your clips might be stored on different parts of the hard disc and it can't keep up as the piece is playing).

I've had this and defragmenting cures frame drop and stutters.

Are you using miro Instant Video?

If not, are you using 1 frame audio interleave?

If the answer to both questions is 'no, I suspect you have hit the 1Gb playback limit.

Either use MIV or set audio interleave to one farme.

I think David is right but, of course, the filesize limit is 2GB, not 1GB.

If you are using a DC30+ with compression of 5:1, then you can make a file that is about 8mins long, and no longer. If you are using less compression, say 4:1, then a 2GB file will hold only about six minutes footage!

However, the DC30+ plus lets you get around this problem with the supplied InstantVideo -which plays back from the timeline directly to tape avoiding the need to make one large file (of a size that you can't make, of course).
