Hi,
i hope somebody can help me out of that...
I'm using the fast dv.now with premiere 6 (yes, ff 1.5 and sp1 installed). i can capture without any problems but as soon as i start working with premiere - i have a lot of crashes. Mostly when i'm choosing clips out of the project window, moving them to the timeline. my premiere is crashing about every 2 minutes. you know - the start of premiere takes quite long. I'm completely frustrated and not far away to buy another ohci-card.
My configuration is:
Intel Pentium III 500
256 RAM
Gigabyte Board with Intel BX Chipset
Windows 2000 SP1^
fast dv.now
can anyone help me out?
thanks in advance
I see that Adobe has a Premiere 6.01 update posted on their website, effective the end of April. Have you checked if it would help?
Yes - i tried to install the update, but it seems that (because i already installed the DV-PAL Patch) everything was already done.
Anyway - Premiere starts up with Version 6.01
I hope i'm not alone with my big problem.
Are the Project Settings and Preview Settings in Premiere set to the correct format - FAST DV PAL, 25fps, 720x576 etc? You should install Premiere first, then the Premiere update, then DV.now 1.5, then the DV.now Service Pack. Installing in that order should automatically set up Premiere up with the correct settings, but just check them manually anyway.

Yeah i'm also having the same problems with adobe premier 6, i just upgraded and it is a complete nightmare, I installed premier, then the dv now build 1.5 software and its caused me nothing but grief, as soon as i even drag a file/clip onto the time line it will just hang, i'm sure it can't be the machine cause i never had this trouble with dv now lite and the premier 5 Le edition.
Hanging in Premiere was a problem I had and resolved as follows:
Initially I installed Premiere on c: drive running at 5400RPM IDE. I used a 2nd drive d: running at 7200RPM, ATA 66, for video work and capture files. Premiere could not deal w running the program on the slower c drive while building the files on the faster d drive. I moved Premiere to the fast drive and my hang problems went away.
Summary: Make sure you are running 7200RPM or higher drives. Defrag the video drive before capturing to reduce making the drive work too hard.
Hope this helps.
