ULead DVD WS2 - Anyone still using it?

Hi Folks,

Even though I have Adobe Encore on my DVC built edit PC I have often found WS2 (installed on my "other" PC) useful for certain jobs. Regrettably, that PC has now died and I?m trying to reinstall some of its software on its replacement. The problem is I can't put my hand on the original disc.

I have spoken to Corel (previously ULead) who despite confirming that I registered it back in 2004 are unable to help with a replacement disc. Their support guy suggested that as I have my own serial numbers I try to borrow an original just for the installation or even try to find a copy on eBay. They seem happy that this does not constitute counterfeiting.

Does anyone have a copy of DVD WS2 and the AC3 Power Pack v1 that came with it that they could copy for me? I would happily pay cost of discs and postage of course. I stress, serial numbers are NOT required as I have a record of my own LEGIT numbers.

Thanks for any help.

Note to Mods: The support guy at Corel was Andrew if you need to check!!

Without a serial number , the discs are useless , so i see no problems.

Thanks Gary. Now I just have to hope someone can still find them.

I may be able to help on this but the installation would be somewhat convoluted because my DVD w/s2 is only an upgrade. To begin with you would need a copy of my w/s1 disk. This is installed first so that w/s2 can find it after which w/s2 will install.

That's not the end of the story, however, because there were some very useful upgrades to w/s2 (chapter points at regular intervals, for example) so that makes three disks that you'd need to load.

If someone comes up with what you need in a more convenient form I would advise using that. If not, pm me.

Problem Solved!

Ray,

Many thanks indeed, you solved the problem just by posting your offer!

When you reminded me about all the various patches I remembered I had them on my HDD. As soon as I looked for them I found I also had a copy of the WS2 Upgrade disc on there. I didn't realise I was that organised!!!

I have the original DVD WS SE so I have now been able to install right through to v2.232 which I think is as far as it went. All seems to work okay again.

So thanks again for your offer and remotely fixing it for me. Much appreciated.

Martin,

Very glad you've got it sorted.

The next version (Workshop 3) was very eagerly awaited. So we waited . . . .and we waited . . . . . and we waited . . . . . and then Ulead was sold and all the subsequent owners lost interest. However, they retained the database of customers and I still get emails from Corel offering me pseudo-'deals' on software on which I have no interest. If only there was a person in Corel with the necessary influence, then I'd be pounding the keyboard to tell them about the business that they are losing through trying to sell the wrong products . . . .

Well said Ray. I still use WS2 on a regular basis as the hack for getting correct 16:9 aspect ratio moving menus is so simple. And along comes Edius 6 with a crescendo of trumpets to announce that they now, at last, have moving menus, tra-la.
