Unstable PC

For a while now, one of our PC`s has been acting quite odd! Occasionally the mouse pointer will freeze & the only way to restore it`s working is to crash reboot! It will be fine for days on end so it appears very random. Now it`s decided to suddenly shut down & reboot of it`s own accord. When it starts up it asks if you want to start windows normally & then says that it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown! Any ideas guys? Thanks.

Re: Unstable PC

Hi Barry

My Windows 7 laptop has recently started having unexpected shutdowns when I closed the lid, plenty of battery life left

McAffee Security was downloaded with a recent Adobe update, also itunes loaded a couple of extra programmes, they are all history now, if I still have this problem I'll do a system restore.

Good luck with your investigations, which OS do you have?

Do you have a loose USB connection affecting your mouse freezing, Try another mouse before you dive into the depths of your PC and start removing any dust build up and resetting RAM etc.?

Thanks John! Someone else suggested using an airline to blow out the dust which I have and there was a lot! We`ll see.

Re: Unstable PC

Since removing the recent McAfee security from Adobe and the itunes add on bloatware + a defrag of my 5% fragmented C drive  my laptop is back to normal and goes to sleep as it should when the lid is closed, it's also much faster and more responsive after this basic maintenance laugh

I hope your puter is feeling better Barry?
