There must be a simple answer to this - how do I tell if I've got USB 1 or 2? I run XP and have looked in device manager but can't see any reference to what version USB it is. Do any of you kind folks out there know where to look?
Thanks

Same connectors and physical properties but USB2 standard added a third higher speed (about 480Mbits compared to 12Mb). USB only has 'mid' and 'low' (1.5Mb)

I'd be interested to hear an answer to this myself - as the only way I know is to check the chipset from Device Manager and then search for specs on internet? There must be an easier way (other than measuring throughput )

plug a usb2 device into the connector.
if it is a usb2 connector it will work
if it is a usb1 connector it will tell you it is a usb2 device running at usb1 speed

Thanks for that Gary. Actually when I looked a bit further I found it in the BIOS setup. It seems I have USB 2.0 enabled.
Cheers
