hi i have just bought a new laptop and was wondering about video capture. i am a newbie and don't know much on this topic so any help would be appreciated.
basically the laptop has a firewire, 3 usb's, some audio sockets and a s-video socket. i just want to know basically how i go about capturing video, from lets say a vcr. what lead what i need and which software should i use. i do not have dazzle yet but since i am new i don't really know what i'm looking for.
help please,
thanks in advance
For laptop capture a lot depents on the specifics of the laptop. If it has IEEE-1394 port, it may have had some basic capture/editing software provided with it. And the s-video port could be output only, the laptop documentation should cover its functions.
However, DV.now AV (and the rest of the DV.now family) are mainly a hardware solution with supporting software and as I see it are oriented to the desktop PC or workstation with an available PCI slot. I don't know much about the other Dazzle products and can't comment on them.
If there is a user forum for your laptop it maybe worth checking there to see what others are doing with respect to video.
This is definitely in the wrong forum.
I am closing this thread and copying it over to the AV hardware forum.
