Video Time Date overlay removal

I am attempting to reinvigorate an old wedding video which was originally produced on VHS. The files have been converted to a VOB file for editing and enhancing.

As part of the process i am using Mercalli stabilization programme to improve camera shake. Having successfully stabilize the video i was surprised to see that although the main image had been stabilized the date and time was acting as an overlay and was shaking around totally independently of the main image which as i say was relatively static. This appears to mean that although there only appears to be a single video  layer within the file in truth post stabilization the file is behaving like two separate layers.

The question is as the above appears to be two layers, if so is there any way to remove the date time indication from the screen?

For editing I use Adobe Creative Suite 4 for editing purposes

There`s a programe called "Remove Logo Now" by Orbits software, might be worth a try!

Re: Video Time Date overlay removal
Derek,

Surely this is not a case of 'two layers'?  If you have asked the stabiliser program to make the picture steady, it is applying movements in the reverse direction to the camera shake. So the date and time will be experiencing 'reverse shake'.

Re: Video Time Date overlay removal
You need to treat the time/date prior to running Mercalli.

VHS had burned in time/date - it's not a data layer like miniDV.

Sometimes the best effective options are to either blur the time and date, crop it out or blob it with an overlay. In your case the latter would probably be no good because you need to stabilize it.

If you're good you can be creative with layers and manually blob out the info with neighbouring content (like a healing brush).
