Hey guys, Im hoping you can recommend me some software which will do 2 things mainly:

Allow me to add a video in the middle of another video but keep the audio of the first video

for example, Im using a video of me speaking to the camera, half way in I want to add some footage of something I am speaking about, but keep the audio of me speaking so the voice goes over the footage.

and secondly something which will give me some nice animations, for instance being able to add a watermark to the video?

Hope you can help, thanks a bunch.

Ali.

Absolutely any video editing software will do the first. And adding overlays is standard as well. How you generate what you overlay is up to you, most video editing software has a wide range of such options. Even the simplest and cheapest can do it easily.

Hi Ali,

I echo Alan, but not sure you can do it on the freebie 'windows movie maker'.
I'm imagining the watermark being static and superimposed.
Where does the animation come in?
This normally refers to graphics being moved in a 2D or 3D environment.

Agreed, WMM is very basic, but I don't really regard that as a video editing package anyway, it's a taster to get you hooked, whence you spend a bit on proper software. And any video editing software that you have to buy will do it all easily.

Animated graphics is probably best done in Flash, but that's outside my experience, so I won't advise.

any of the basic packages will do it easily, eg Vegas Movie Studio 9 (hem, hem) or Premiere Elements, or Final Cut Express if you be on a mac.

seeing as I'm completely impartial, I'll give you linkage to the first:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Vegas-Movie-Studio-Platinum/dp/B001FB56UC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1249986404&sr=8-3

or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Vegas-Movie-Studio-9/dp/B001FB56U2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1249986404&sr=8-2 is cheaper but depends on what video you want to put in.

Q: what camera are you going to use? Or is it from the web etc? Important detail, this.

Ali just out of curiosity why would you need a software item to lay images over your narration?.
Any person who is editing basic material would know the procedure of inserting footage on a soundtrack which has been laid down.
Sorry for asking but like i said just quizzing.

That's why I said what I did. It's all very basic stuff that any editing system will do easily.
