Hi folks,

I have been looking at the possibility of submitting some films to some competitions and try to get some awards, which I think enhances the value of the company and makes you feel valued.

I know about the IOV awards and WEVA in the US are there any others in the UK which I could submit to?

Thanks in advance!

This weekend is the IAC's British International Film Festival at the Cairn Hotel, Harrogate. Of course too late to enter films for this year, but it's an annual competition that brings forth some quite amazingly original and exciting films.

There seems to be quite a few "Award Winning" companies out there.
Take a look at their web sites and see exactly what they have won.

I have an Bronze Swimming certificate, which is a good award. Not sure I want to put that one on my site though.

I think Andy will agree that awards are generally worthless and the results often questionable. Of course, its all a matter of opinion though.

Understood. I think it still sounds better to say award winning ...videographer/company whatever...
Even if it just for that I think it might be worth it to enter some competitions.
But, point taken.
Thanks.
ps. Love your work minty and reel-weddings

No comment on that comment! except I personally believe that those who feel that way should not enter any awards!... and.... in the spirit of the awards...do not deserve to win them!:)

Cheers.

Same old story. Those without think they're rubbish . . . until they get one or two :D

Do not follow, I may not lead. Do not lead . . . I may not follow.

They would be good for marketing and making you feel good/better about your work. That is all.

With some, the results are VERY questionable though. Totally agree with you on that. You just need to read up on the Wedding Wire awards in the US to see how bad it can be.

Spot on.
If you're going to enter in the awards process make sure you're happy with the judging criteria and happy with who will be judging your work.

All I learnt from the experience is that I don't want my work to be judged by a wedding planner or a hairdresser.
