Adice please on the best mic to record sound of a Brass Band playing in a theatre.

It is intended to be fed into the Sony VX2000.

I have already the Sennheiser MKE300D, K6+ME66.

I would suggest getting another K6, two ME64 cardioid heads and a stereo bar.

You can then swap the ME66 for a new ME64 and use a pair of K6+ME64, either as crossed cardioids or as an ORTF pair.

Put these in the centre behind the conductor (well away from the camera) and record like that - it should sound great (if you can get them in the right position).

Thanks John,

The project will not justify the purchase of another K6 and two ME64 cardioid heads and a stereo bar.

But from your answer the best head to get would be the ME64 which I understand you would recommend for recording music at a disco.

The ME64 is cardioid and has a wider pattern than the ME66.

Be careful about levels in the disco.
