Windows 7 disk performance

Just changed the OS in my system to Windows 7 64, quite an easy process.
Couldn't resist rating the computer, all the factors are 7.1 or 6.9 apart from the hard disk transfer rate which is 5.9.
Is this to be expected? Should it be better?
I've got SATA discs, with Win7 the drivers load with the OS, don't need to worry about F6 and floppies.

They may be sata , but which level ?
Anything around 5 is good , over 5 is better than required.
Have you updated the motherboard drivers ?
Is write caching enabled ? That can affect the performance figures.

Thanks Gary,
"Anything around 5 is good" is what I wanted to hear.
SATA 2, tried updating motherboard drivers, don't know if anything actually happened!
But I think I'll settle for this and stop checking performance.
