I've never had a problem uploading clips with commercial music to Vimeo, but have had the music removed when uploading to youtube. There must be zillions of clips with same kind of music on youtube. How do they decide what/who to censor? Is it because I'm a company? Is it because they jus' don' like bald blokes? :( :)

You got it :)
I've had the same problem Arthur, tried to substitute it by using their "I feel lucky" replacement option and, got a track from The Chipmunks.
Just uploaded this one, shot at Devon County Show last week by Madam using a "Flip" Mino HD! Quite amazing footage baring in mind what was used!

Youtube have a technology which listens to the music and identifies its audio fingerprint. Similar to how Musicbrainz or other services work.
Youtube have agreements in place with certain labels to allow their music and pay the royalties for you. I've had problems with music from Warner Brothers but not other labels. Usually you get an email telling you who it belongs to.
Ive had some luck with songs the normally remove as I have other audio in there like vows or speeches. This often confuses the fingerprinting software so allows it.
The annoying one is when I've tried to upload a video with a track I have fully licenced to use like those from triplescoop or withettiquete and they still block it. Grrrrr.
Well... managed to get one at least that plays: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QauoO7EJ8KQ
One other sez "may be banned in other countries" And one that was without audio, now has??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yDn0JmYAC4&NR=1
