Has anyone experienced or has the answer for the following please?

Editing in Premiere Pro CS6.  AVCHD files are on the timeline. Play the timeline.

Video and Audio play correctly - at first, The Timeline cursor continues but only audio plays. The Video freezes.

A reboot may restore normality but deleting the next clip to the video freeze is usually a cure - not 100% cure though.

Re: Premiere Pro CS6 Timeline Problem
Hi Les,

AVCHD files can be quite hard work for the computer to play back in real time: the computer has to decode quite a heavily compressed file (AVCHD) in order play it back. Sometimes it's just not up to the job, and gives up playing back the video, and just plays the audio, which is easier for it to do.  But you haven't always had this problem, have you? So I assume your computer is powerful enough, so perhaps your HDD is filling up?

Do you have your AVCHD files on the same hard disk as the operating system and programmes? In either case how much spare room is there on your hard drive(s)?

Computer: (DVC) Asus Sabretooth X58 M/B.  3.06Ghz intel 7-950 Quad core.  3x4 DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM. nVidia GeForce GTX 470 graphics.

Matrox MX02 mini box (No card)

Present state of drives:

C: 32.5 GB free of 149 GB (Partition 1)    D; 666 GB free of 931 GB    E: 549 GB free of 931 GB   F: 255GB free of 315 GB (partition 2)

Computer delivered with Premiere Pro CS 5.0.3 and recently updated to CS6. No similar problems previously - with CS5.

This edit is on E: drive.(277 AVCHD files).

As the "Razor" tool is now located in the "Tools" (L/H end of timeline)  I would be interesterd in the procedure of use.

IMHO it was better, and easier to use, left where ir was in the "Sequence" drop-down menu of CS5.

Hi Les.
I only have CS2. But in all versions of Premiere, the keyboard “C” key turns on the Razor tool. “V” returns to normal. Check the keyboard short cuts for the rest.

Thank you John, once again. Crtl+K in CS6 .

Stupid Americans again - they have to change all that works fine already.

As an American myself I would love to help you further, but I'm too stupid to...wink

Is your Premiere CS6 updated to the latest version? CS6.04 as of today.

In Premiere go to help -> updates and let it check for updates, and install them.

I'm not 100% au fait with how the Matrox Mini works in conjunction with CS6. I have to admit I got rid of mine when CS5 was released.  Is the video freezing both the program monitor and in the Matrox playback?

Re: Premiere Pro CS6 Timeline Problem
Thank you Mark for the information. Update installed.

Freeze problem was when playing timeline from timeline only.

Not sure what Matrox mini does now.

HDMI out wasn't connected when freeze occurred.

Now connected. No current problems on either timeline or Matrox conmnection..
